Week 5 - Homework for October 6, 2011

This week's homework is formatted a little differently.

  1. Literature
    1. Peter Pan:
      1. Review the literary devices discussed in class. Look for 2 examples in each chapter of this week's reading of Peter Pan.
      2. What is the overall setting of Peter Pan? How did it help articulate the message of the book?
      3. Who were the leading characters in the book? give a short blurb on each of them. (Think of our discussion on how we get to know a character. What do we observe about them that helps us understand who they are?) You can type up your answers, or you can compile your answers in some other creative format. Answers can be in bullet form.
    2. Gather for 2 poems. Identify 4 examples of literary devices in each poem. Mark them.
    3. Get a copy of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. We begin reading this next week.
  2. Writing - write a 3-paragraph story on the picture series available here. (FYI: This wasn't assigned in class.)
  3. Vocabulary - Quiz 1, lessons 1 - 4. Print the test here
  4. Poem 3 - you have 2 weeks to complete this. Due 10/19.
  5. Correct any and all incomplete / incorrect work.

Suggested Schedule:

NOTE: Make sure that you notate on all your papers the class date, NOT the date you begin or complete the assignment. This ensures that I record your assignment grades in the correct place.
