Title: Peter Pan
Author: J.M. Barrie
Reading Dates: Summer of 2011
For those who have registered for class already, I sent an email announcing the summer reading selection of Peter Pan. If you've started to read the book, good job! If not, I've schedule the book to be finished during September instead of The Black Odyssey by Mary Cable. Take note of the change.
Here is a short blurb on the classic tale.
"So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land!" - Peter Pan.
Context:
Credited as J.M. Barrie's most successful work, Peter Pan was published in 1911 and has never been out of print. By gleaning from his close relationship with the Llewelyn Davies family, Barrie secured his inspiriation for his timeless classic. It is a tale of childhood innocence, courage, sacrifice, and responsibility.
What it's about:
According to CreativeSpace Publishers, Peter Pan "...is the story of a mischievous boy who can fly and magically refuses to grow up. He spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland as the leader of his gang the Lost Boys, interacting with mermaids, Indians, fairies, and pirates, and from time to time meeting ordinary children from the world outside." Enjoy your travels through this imaginative tale and meet the boy who never grew up.
"To live would be an awfully big adventure" -Peter Pan
